About This Study

Before we can dive into the deep waters of Biblical prophecy โ€” the ages of the earth, the role of Lucifer, or the resurrection of the dead โ€” we must first know how to study God's Word properly. Without the right foundation, even the most sincere student can be misled.

In this lesson, Tim Anderson walks through the tools, principles, and methods that he uses in every study. You will learn to approach Scripture the way God intends โ€” prayerfully, carefully, and in context.

What You Will Learn

  • Why the King James Bible is the preferred translation for deep study
  • How to use a concordance and Strong's numbers to study original Hebrew and Greek words
  • The importance of context โ€” chapter, book, and whole-Bible context
  • How to use the Companion Bible and its appendices as study tools
  • Why "rightly dividing" Scripture (2 Timothy 2:15) is the most important discipline in Bible study
  • How to pray before and during study โ€” inviting God's guidance into your learning

Key Scripture

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." โ€” 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
"For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little." โ€” Isaiah 28:10 (KJV)
